Pink “Kitch” for Saturday!

I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for another Pink Saturday.

I had my first field trip this week with friends and we went to Deb’s Flowerbed Farm. Her house is surrounded with beautiful flowers and the barn is just full of good stuff. I rarely leave empty handed.

My friends are redoing a bedroom. It will have lots of PINK and be quite “cottagey”. It was their turn on Saturday and they found the neatest stuff.

The juice pitcher and glasses are glass with pink crackle type paint all over.  Very different.

Then they found a pink tray – handpainted with turquoise accents!

Pink for Saturday

 gouache1

This will be my first post in quite some time. I have had a hip replacement and Serendipity has been on the back burner for a while. Severe hip pain has truly limited my activities these last few months and I am now just starting to be comfortable. I hope to get some more pink photos tomorrow but for today and I am going to go through some older photos to find some pink! The first and second photos are manipulated with Virtual Painter. “Painting” is fun with these programs and the effects are spectacular. I need to make notes because I forget what I have done! Some photographs work better than others and some are more artistic in Photoscape. I cannot seem to get the hang of Photoshop. These other programs are so user friendly. I have bought several books on Photoshop but perhaps I need a class. In the meantime…..

This year I hope to gather some of my favorite “artworks” and send them off to have blank cards made. I will use them as small gifts.

Thanks to all of you who sent e-mails and comments. The blogging friends are truly special. I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for this weekly event.

Recuperating......

Thank you all for all your good wishes and comments this last week. I have a new hip and we are are bonding. Hip replacement precautions are very restrictive and I have not quite figured out how to comfortably work on the computer. But I will soon.

One of my goals for having this surgery was photography. I want to be able to park the car and walk around an area (like a beautiful garden) and take lots of photographs. I would like to go dancing and, of course, I want to go "antiquing". All of this will happen in good time.

So, my dear blogging friends, I am on the mend and thinking of posts and mosaics but need to get through the next couple of weeks before I can make a lot happen.

Pink for the 4th of July

I am joining Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday. This week we can  include the traditional pinks or celebrate with the colors of the 4th. Beverly hosts this event each week and I hate to miss it!

I have such fond memories of the 4th growing up in New Jersey. There were fireworks, picnics,  parades and good food. There were American flags. We had sparklers. We would go to Green Village for a wonderful cookout at Uncle George’s. He was an avid fisherman and a master at the outdoor fireplace. The picnic tables were pushed together because there was always a large crowd.

My sister and I were always on our best behavior at his home. He had never had any children and he was quite gruff with us. However, he danced with me at my wedding on July 9th 1966. I digress…but I love this picture.

So, on many the 4th’s we would go to his home. There were horseshoes and croquet.

There was potato salad and pie for dessert. One of my favorite pies is rhubarb.

I have tried to keep some of these traditions alive although we are all quite far apart these days. Today my youngest son will come for a cookout with my grandchildren. We will have a cookout and some time at the beach. And if we stay up late enough, we will be able to see the fireworks at the end of the lake.

Hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th and Happy Pink Saturday. I need to make that potato salad now!
