Radiator Art

Layerradiator

I am joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. Please visit her site to see all the wonderful participants and their art.

Jack and I celebrated our 6th anniversary recently in Greenville, ME. We usually have gone to Camden but with the new hip, we wanted something a little less congested. We chose the Greenville Inn. You can read about it here. Greenville is on Moosehead Lake and the Inn overlooks the lake. They advertise as a “Country Inn with European Flavor at the Gateway to the Maine Wilderness.”

The Inn is a beautifully restored mansion that belonged to a lumber baron named William Shaw. The building began in 1885 and was finished in 1895. The original detail throughout is amazing. I was fascinated with the cast iron radiators.

So, a collage seemed in order.

I will be playing with these pictures. The texture and shadows have great possibilities.

Have a wonderful week!

About a year ago.....

Another Pink Saturday hosted by Beverly at How Sweet the Sound.Today I am repeating a pink post that I did last year when we got back to Florida. It is getting to be that time of year again.

I have been working very hard to get my house in order since we got back to Florida in November. I was sidelined by a nasty cold and an even nastier flu bug. My upstairs room was in a shambles as I waited for all to be done there. The holidays were wonderful but busy. So I decided that I need a day off – or at least a morning. I am planning on Monday.

I love our bedroom and as I looked around the room I was amazed at all the pink!! I was appalled at all the dust as well but that is another story for another time. I will put all the pillows on the bed and set the bed tray as if I were having tea in bed, gather my unread quilt magazines, stay in my pink pajamas and generally just have a lazy morning. I may even stop by and say hi to my followers.
First I will set the scene.

The bed tray I found at Bed, Bath and Beyond and the Royal Albert China is Old Country Roses and I found that at Marshall’s. The bedding is from Pottery Barn at few years back and the quilt I made. The pattern is Rosy Romantic and is a Kaffe Fassett. The fabric used in this one is Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett. I made this a few years ago and have made several more of this pattern as gifts.

The pillows I embroidered on my embroidery machine. They were fun to make and unfortunately I have no idea where I put the cd with the design on it.

All my perfect morning needs now are some pretty pink tulips like these at Fresh Market.

Some pink candy might be good as well.

Anniversary in Greenville

L1040491

We went to Greenville, ME this year for our anniversary. We stayed at the Greenville Inn and it was wonderful. You can read the blog here.

We usually go to Camden but with the new hip and the congestion, we thought we would go somewhere more contained. We had a suite with a sitting room. Perfect. It was chilly and it rained a bit so the sitting room was very convenient as I could set up a little office. I am still setting up the new computer.

There were gas fireplaces in most of the rooms so with the press of a button, there was a delightful little fire.

The Greenville Inn Was built by lumber baron William Shaw. He liked the latest and the finest. Intercoms throughout and marble soaking tubs with the fanciest of plumbing fixtures for the time.

The inn was begun in 1885. It was finished in 1895. It took 10 years for the woodworking and details to be completed.

Pink with a little turquoise…..

I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for another Pink Saturday. This week I am adding a little turquoise to the mix.

One of my favorite blogs is Mockingbird Hill Cottage by Claudia and, as I took these picture, I thought of her.

On the porch of the cabin, I played with my pitchers. The wall pocket with the pink apple is my latest acquisition. Wall pockets are quite collectible and still affordable.

L1040216

The turquoise tall pitcher was a gift from my son and the smaller majolica-type, I have had for a long time. The Gerbera daisies are from the supermarket. I placed all three pitchers on an aluminum ware tray. My mother and grandmother had this “silverware” and I am fortunate to still have some.

I brought in a pink McCoy type for the last shot.
Be sure to visit the other pinks and stop in and say hi to Claudia.
Happy Pink Saturday
