Radiator Art

Layerradiator

I am joining Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday. Please visit her site to see all the wonderful participants and their art.

Jack and I celebrated our 6th anniversary recently in Greenville, ME. We usually have gone to Camden but with the new hip, we wanted something a little less congested. We chose the Greenville Inn. You can read about it here. Greenville is on Moosehead Lake and the Inn overlooks the lake. They advertise as a “Country Inn with European Flavor at the Gateway to the Maine Wilderness.”

The Inn is a beautifully restored mansion that belonged to a lumber baron named William Shaw. The building began in 1885 and was finished in 1895. The original detail throughout is amazing. I was fascinated with the cast iron radiators.

So, a collage seemed in order.

I will be playing with these pictures. The texture and shadows have great possibilities.

Have a wonderful week!

They are beautiful, aren't they? It reminds me there was a time when even the most utilitarian things were decorated with care.

I am a new follower of your blog. How lovely the detail is on the radiators. I noticed you love fiesta ware. I also collect it. I am quite lucky, I don't live too far from the plant where it is manufactured. Don't you just love the bright colors? I have visited Maine a couple times on vacation, it is beautiful state. Your pictures are breathtaking. Have a great day....Sue in Ohio

Good morning Carol,
Very interesting mosaics, the old fashioned radiators with their acanthus leaf designs make an excellent subject.
The Greenville looks wonderful, you know what a fan I am of Maine Inns!
I love your new header, did you create it?

That's some pretty work on that old girl! They sure don't make them like they use to, do they?

I love photographs that show detail like yours. And I know I'd love that inn!
You asked about my camera and I can tell you that I'm taking photos like a mad woman--some are good and I don't know why and some are bad and I don't know why. I have a long way to go but it's fun. I haven't used the longer lens yet. That's next.

Happy anniversary!!

Best,
Bonnie
