Ramblings and wanderings.......

We have left the little red cabin. She is clean and ready for winter. She hibernates for 7 months and waits for us to come back in June. While Jack finished the sweeping I took some pictures. We divide the closing chores!

The path used to be part of the narrow gauge railroad which made trips from Harrison to Bridgton. I will do more research next summer.

The colors have not been as brilliant this year with all the rain and wind but the colors are still beautiful.

The recent sunrise was spectacular. The morning was cold and here I am outside before 6am in my jammies and slippers taking pictures.

I wish I knew what kind of bush this is. Might be chokecherry but I just can't pin it down. If anyone knows I would appreciate the name.

Have a great week!

I can remember the sad feeling of leaving the family cottage at the lake in the Fall when I was a little girl but the anticipation of the next summer was wonderful!!
Have a Great Day!!

It's always so bittersweet to pack up a house, even though you know you're going to return, but what lovely pictures, Carol! I adore Maine.

On the flip side, Florida is ready for you to return. We have glorious weather right now, ordered by the Chamber of Commerce. I hope you have a good trip back!

XO,

Sheila

I would have gone outside in my jammies if the sunrise looked like that too! What an absolutely fabulous shot!

Goodbye little cabin... see you next year!

There's a lot of work involved closing up camp. I'm sure that you're happy to have that behind you.

Spectacular views of the lake and sunrise. You're right. The colors this year have not been as vivid and the leaves seem badly damaged. I am trying to find enough to make a leaf garland and it's not easy.

Lovely spot in Maine. Must be sad to close up for the winter, although a new adventure awaits in Florida! I enjoyed reading Richard Bartlett Day. I bet he is listening!

Your little red house is so sweet! You'll be back there soon enough. The rain has had its effect here, too. Not nearly enough color and lot of leaves have already dropped from the winds.

It must be wonderful to know you are going to be spending the Winter in the sun, I wish we had that opportunity!! It is lovely for us bloggers to see the two places you live especially ones like me, that will never get to them.

Have a safe journey and as Pamela says, "time flies" so it will soon be time for you to return to the cabin.

Take care, love from your British blogger friend, Jackie in Surrey, UK.xx

What a stunning sunrise!!!.. great capture. You should get out there in your jammies before 6am more often!

Does the cabin sit completely empty for those 7 months? Do you have someone who checks on it? I'm just wondering the condition when you return. We've thought of doing this in the past but I worry about the inbetween time.
