Foodie Friday Easter

Today I am joining Michael Lee West at Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday.

This is a continuation of Tablescape Thursday. I have spoken of Gram Potter and her Perfection Salad in an earlier post which you can see here. This salad is a tradition in our family. If you Google Perfection Salad you will find many variations but this is the one we like. This salad has a sharper taste because of the vinegar but is still similar to other salads of this type. I add a little lemon juice to the mayonnaise to serve with it.

I will make this salad in one of Gram’s pressed glass bowls and serve in small bowls of a similar pattern in an amber color. I believe the bowl is the Button pattern and the amber dishes are Button and Daisy. I will use the bowl to serve from because the thought of having to unmold a gelatin salad would make me very nervous. I will use one of her silver-plate serving pieces to serve the salad. This pierced spoon is the daffodil pattern by Rogers.

I will serve the mayonnaise in a vintage Fenton dish with another Rogers spoon.

For dessert I decided that chocolates would be perfect. Beautiful chocolates from Belgium are nestled in little square plates set in antique Limoges. I will have them on  a side table with coffee using the Limoges and the grape spoons.

I used to have some souvenir spoons. I sold most of them a few years back but kept a few. I have one for Easter. I had quite a bit of difficulty photographing it but this is what it looks like. Little chicks are hatching. The spoon was made by D. Low in Salem and you can read a little about him here.
