Supper in the Kitchen

L1040088

I am joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday. There are many of us who just love to set the table and play with dishes. (In real life---Jack and I very often use paper plates!) However, the table always looks inviting. So many of the dishes that I use are not suitable for the dishwasher.

Tonight we are going to eat in the kitchen. It has been a long day and I am going to make 1905 Salad. You can read about it here.

The counter tops are cherry so I did not use placemats. A clear glass plate serves as a charger. On top is a plate with a fruit design. The china is made by the Edwin M. Knowles China Company and, although I can find the dishes on eBay, I cannot find the name of the pattern. The plate on top is banded glassware. I was fortunate enough to buy a lot of this glassware. I love the look of the colors with Fiesta dishes, too.

I could not get rid of that glare…..I am not allowed to climb yet!

The dishes are well worn. I bought the set when I first started staying at the cabin and Jack has decided that they really belong at his house.

The flatware was purchased at the Dansk outlet several years ago. The Fiesta pitcher is a reproduction and the zinnias are from the garden.

Thanks for stopping by. If you have a  minute, I love comments!

Hello Carol

A lovely colourful welcoming table! I especially love the vase and the Zinnia's and the way you have the tilt in the last photograph. Jackie in UK.

Beautiful Tablescape!
We usse paper plates in the summer time for sandwiches or cold meals but in the winter we use the Fiestaware or china!
Have a Great Day!

Marilyn

Beautiful table!! Love your zinnias and the fiestaware too! I can't wait to see what the 1905 salad is! I have an old Watkins cookbook and I have looked at the some of the salad dressing recipes but never made any.

Carol,

I LOVED your comment on my Honest Kitchen posting. So you are a member of the "HONEST KITCHEN CLUB." I know I would love your little cabin. These are the places of the heart.

Did you ever see one of my last books The Little Green Island with the Little Red House? I am crazy for red houses, which is what this camp was, but the sea air stripped the paint every year. We finally gave in and shingled it. I miss the red.

So happy you stopped by for a visit. How can I keep from losing you in the blog world? Let's keep in touch-one Maineiac to another.

Fondly,

The table looks like a cozy place to eat and the zinneas add so much vibrancy! It all kind of reminds me of fall, which we're all wishing for!

Hi Carol, you set a beautiful table. It looks wonderful.

I had to pop over and say, what you wrote on Brenda's blog is so exactly what I was going to write. Since I found out about Windows Live Writer, there is no going back for me. Blogger was one frustrating program, and I was one of the unlucky ones that everything glitchy happened to.

Now I am thrilled to be able to post quickly and effortlessly on WLW.
