I know this is an early Thanksgiving table but there is a reason! We are going to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving dinner but we wanted to have our own leftovers! So we started yesterday with our preparations! Jack chopped and I baked.
One pumpkin bread and 4 date nut breads later…..
My baking was done! In the name of “at least trying to watch what we eat”. I did not make dessert.
I think Thanksgiving dinner is about my favorite. I don’t cook a turkey anymore. We cook chicken instead which we brine. However, creamed onions are a must along with stuffing made with smoked oysters. Homemade cranberry sauce and rutabagas and mashed potatoes complete the dinner. And, of course, there is gravy. My mother always had a relish try. Celery stuffed with Roka cheese spread was one of my favorites. When I was growing up there was always homemade pickled watermelon rind.
The cabinet just outside the kitchen is decorated.

Carol, I absolutely adore your dishes! They are wonderful, and I like what you are serving. We are eating out with friends, too, but my favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the cornbread dressing. I adore it.

The table looks lovely! We go somewhere for Tgiving, but with turkeys being so cheap, dh bought one so we can have our own dinner like you. My mom ALWAYS had to have the creamed onions. No one else ate them, but we always made them for her. And always the celery stuffed with cheese! :)
The snowflakes are beautiful. I have had an emb machine for over 5 yrs and I just took it out of the box! I have to learn how to use it. It is prob very out of date already!
Your menu sounds fab -- I love rutabaga and rarely get it. Your table is lovely -- the tablecloth is such a perfect background for that pretty china. Don't you love using heirlooms like your relish dish?
Lovely tablescape, enjoy the day and meal!! I couldn't do all that baking, I would want to eat it warm out of the oven!! Lovely china and I don't know anything about Caprice but the candle holder is wonderful.
We don't celebrate it here in the UK unless you are Americans, must find out if Bob another radio ham is, probably with his family although his wife is English.

Your dishes are SO incredibly beautiful! I really like the design!!! Gorgeous! With all that baking and cooking, it's a wonder we're ever able to set a table, isn't it? Lots of work, but a labor of love. I hope you and your husband have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with your friends.

The William-Sonoma transferware is gorgeous, and I love the individual covered tureens. You jut reminded me that I have a loaf of pumpkin bread that I need to cut into tomorrow morning for breakfast. I like to toast it under the broiler...yum! Thank you for sharing your charming design. Cherry Kay
