A nor'easter changed our travel plans this year. Our flight was cancelled. However, I commend Jet Blue for the way it was handled. I received an e-mail that included new flight information for the following day. We were able to have the room at the hotel for another night and avoided the airport scene. It was a long day as we were up at 3am but the room was lovely and and we were happy to just hunker down for an extra day.
This post is sort of a good news bad news one. The good news being that we got home safely and the house was clean and sparkly and the refrigerator was stocked, dinner was almost ready and there were roses on the table. Thank you.
My grandmother always had a tin of these cookies called rocks. They make a most wonderful ice cream sandwich!
So all seemed well. The pool had a new pump. It was faulty and my neighbors had to fill my pool. It was not the most pleasant experience with the pool company. They were very angry that they would have to replace and eat the cost!!!!!
The air conditioner was cycling on and off every 20 seconds. A service call brought the news that a new one would be needed. There was no point in putting a huge amount of money into an old system. So that was my week! Hope yours was better.
I am still unpacking and arranging "stuff" - more on that later.

Grrr. lots of expenses for you, but no one can go without A/C.
Welcome home, my dear! Looking forward to spending time with you in the coming months.

Someone was being awfully sweet to have things looking beautiful with food and roses, too. I am sorry about the extra troubles that awaited. That's not too much fun. Hopefully, the new ac system will work for years to come without a hitch. The pool, too!
Weclome home! Life is an adventure, isn't it?!!!! I had the heaters checked and the next day the AC went out. Always something!
I wrote a comment and there was a problem, so I will start again.
As snap says there is always something in a house. We have had a problem with the toilet and now odd bits are coming off the soffits.
At least you will have a warm Winter in Florida. it is getting quite cold here in the UK.
Love Jackie in Surrey, UK.xx
Welcome home, sorry things weren't all good but I hope the get repaired/replaced soon and nothing else breaks! Enjoy the unpacking!
So glad you arrived safely and are settling in. That's a shame about the pool and a/c. I hope they are working smoothly now. You will need both I'm sure :) Blessings, Pamela
Glad you're finally safe & back in Florida. Dinner sounded great, shame about the problem with pool & aircon though.
Hope it doesn't prove to be too expensive a homecoming!
Glad you are back and settled to your winter home. I would imagine, whichever direction you are going, it is good to get all settled in. So sorry about the A/C news, you probably still need it --what a contrast from where you just came from,eh? Well anyway I was a bit relieved as for some reason I thought your bad news was headed in the health direction. Hope you're having a sunny weekend!
Oh Carol....I'm so glad YOUR experience with Jet Blue was better than most people! I would just DIE if I were held hostage for 7 hrs. in an airplane. (claustrophobic)
Sorry to hear about the unplanned expenses. yuck! Much rather spend that kind of money on fabric!!
I'm glad you've arrived safe & sound & can enjoy that warm, FL sun.
Hugs,
Rett
Carol, I'm so glad you made it! Yea! And how wonderful to be greeted with all sorts of goodness in your fridge. And those cockie sandwiches look particularly tempting.
I'm glad you worked it out with the pool people, and I'm sorry about the new AC. I've had a couple of scares with two units, but only a part was needed for both. WHEW! But getting a new one, you should be good to go! I had to get a new air handler about two years ago, and I'm still not sure why.
SO glad you are home!
XO,
Sheila
Hi Carol,I am back from my travels and am now busily trying to catch up with all my favourite bloggers, who have all been so busy in my absence. I enjoyed browsing through your posts this evening, good to know you are also home again safely. Take Care.
Glad you got home safely - so sorry about the pump and the a/c!

So glad you're home safely Carol. That's the most important thing. I do not like to unpack and that's the truth. I could pack for everyone all day long, but my greatest pleasure would be to have someone else unpack.
