I think you have to be of a certain age to remember Junket. It was a favorite at our house and then just disappeared. Puddings were a dessert staple for our family - tapioca being my favorite. But Junket was always a hit. Now we only have dessert when there is company and my favorite to serve is Creme Brulee.
A few weeks back, we went antiquing in Arcadia which is about an hour from here. A set of custard cups caught my eye. They are Fry glass and the price was almost free. You can read about the glass here.
The glass companies have complex histories so I would suggest Google as a place to start if you would like to know more about the glass.
So then the search for Junket. The website is here.
My camera is not wanting to capture the beautiful color of this raspberry custard (or it could be an operator error!).
In this world where so often things are not as we remember them, it was very satisfying that Junket had not changed.
I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound for another Pink Saturday. I hope you will stop in and see what else is Pink this week.

Carol, what a pleasant treat to read your blog this morning. You certainly brought back memories. My very favorite was the Raspberry Danish Dessert, but then anything raspberry has my name on it. Love the little custard cups also. Have been wanting to go to Arcadia for some time. Might be an arm twister to get my husband to go with me...sigh Susan
Your new blog look and header is delightful--bright and cheery! And this post does bring memories ... but for some reason I associate junket with being sick! Maybe that was food for on the way to recovery. Your dessert cups are quite a find!
I do remember Junket but don't remember ever having it. Now I'm intrigued because it sounds delicious and I love the way it looks in those cups. Where is Arcadia? I might need to head that way too.
Best,
Bonnie
Desert looks very nice an taste, mmm... I like it!
Have a nice weekend dear Carol, kisses!:)
What? I know nothing of this product...either the glass nor the custard in it. How can that be? Hmmm...
I remember little glass jars just like these. :)
Isn't it lovely to re-visit a favorite from the past ! Thanks for sharing this memory.
I think I make 'that certain age' to remember junket. As a kid my dad entered my name in a lottery and I won (never won a thing since) but the prize was a hammper of food goodies (which must of been like gold back then) and in it was 5 packets of Junket. I didnt care about anything else but the Junket lol.
Thanx for brining back the memories, it seems like yesterday :)

I have never heard of Junket but you have peaked my curiosity. I'm off to google!! Oh, I love the pudding cups.
I am glad you were able to still find your childhood favorite treat. It is something I am unfamiliar with but I sure remember Jello cooked (not instant!) puddings in butterscotch and chocolate. (Do you remember the flavour bud in them?) Also, lemon pudding and pie filling as well as blanc mange or as we kids called it, vanilla pudding. You brought back some memories for me. Pamela
Well it certainly looks delicious even though I don't remember having it before. I am going to check it out. darling dishes.'

I remember my mother preparing Junket and we thought it was wonderful. I saw it recently in one of our markets but can't remember which one. I should try it again for the lovely memories I'm sure it would bring back. Love those little custard cups too, Carol.
I'm going around visiting everyone on today's PINK SATURDAY list.....with my hot cup of coffee, of course! Just wanted to let you know that I was here! Have yourself a great weekend, and stop by my place if you've the time!

I remember junket. I didn't know they made it anymore, I have to look for it!
Hope you are well, Carol. Almost time for Maine!
I do remember Junket! I was always so intrigued by the name...
Thanks for sharing. Happy Pink Saturday!! ~Lorraine ♥♥♥
hmmm, never knew Junket made a pudding. I associate it with making ice cream, for some reason.
ok, I just googled it and there IS an Ice Cream Mix, made by Junket. I think my mom used it.
Never tried nor heard of it but it looks yummy, i must have a try.

Wow. I haven't thought about Junket in years. I do speculate about the corporate meeting where they decided that "JUNKet" was an excellent name for a dessert product.
However -- lovely post! Love those custard cups, too. I have NO custard cups, I am just realizing. I think that must be remedied.
As for my sewing machine -- I never got to take the in-store classes about it, with the wedding and all of the many house projects that piled up in the months right after May 2011 ... so I'm going to see if I can swing the classes now and REALLY get to know my machine.
Because otherwise, I'm thinking Howard may smother me while I sleep.
Bye! -- Cass
