Pink Saturday on my birthday!

What a nice present! One of my favorite events is on my birthday. Another year has gone by and except for the “bad” hip, it has been another wonderful year. Much of its success has been due to blogging. I have met some wonderful people and seen some amazing photographs and read some beautiful and funny writing. I have learned so much from studying all your blogs. Who said grandmothers don’t know much about computers????
Now, speaking of grandmothers and birthdays…… I talk about my Gram Potter a lot but I also had a Gram Lane. My parents, as they downsized, starting giving me some of the family treasures that they knew I treasured (coveted). The treasures were stored in the back of dark closets. I wanted to display them in my china cupboard. So for one of my birthdays I received Gram Lane’s cocoa set which I believe was one of her wedding presents.

I love the handle on the pot and the shape of the little bowl. I am not sure what the bowl is for – maybe extra whipped cream! The linens underneath the tray were embroidered by Gram Potter and she made the lace as well. I feel so fortunate to have a trunk full of her crocheted and embroidered linens.

Have a great birthday Carol.Do you have any special plans to celebrate?

It has been lovely to get to know you through your blog and our emails.

That is a beautiful teaset, I think it is a sugar bowl isn't it?

Have a great day, best wishes, Jackie in UK.x

Happy Birthday to you, Carol! The coco set is beautiful. I have a very old set that my grandfather's cousin painted many, many years ago and I'm afraid to use it. You have a wonderful time celebrating!

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday to you,

Happy Birthday, Dear Carol...

Happy Birthday to YOU!

Hope it's very, very happy, indeed.

Love your china. It is exquisite, Carol. And do you know that Potter and Lane are both surnames in my family??? The Potters were from New England, and the Lanes were from NC/VA. Wouldn't that be something if we connected on one of those lines!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday and a very Happy Pink Saturday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

First, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a wonderful lady. I hope tomorrow is a day for celebrating and getting what you want -- as the Birthday Girl, you must insist! :-)

Second ... that chocolate set is fabulous! I LOVE the shape of chocolate pots -- so sinuous and graceful. This one is particularly beautiful.

I am not sure what the bowl is for either. Whipped cream sounds good to me. Dirty spoons? Not so enticing!
Many Happy Returns .... Cass

Happy Birthday!!!! Oh, this is such a beautiful chocolate set. I displayed one on my blog - thinking it was a tea set - and one of my reader advised it was a chocolate set because of the shape of the pot. I never knew that and I was the one that bought it for my Mom. LOL! Anyways your set is just lovely. Thanks for sharing it.
