I am joining Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and Karen Valentine at My Desert Cottage for Pink Saturday and Where Bloggers Create.
This is my little cottage by the lake. You can see some more of it here. The cottage is not actually mine but I have been there for 8 years in the summer. The owners have become dear friends and I have decorated it with some of my belongings. The name of the cottage is Querencia. In Spanish, querencia describes a place where one feels safe, a place from which one's strength of character is drawn, a place where one feels at home. It comes from the verb quere, which means to desire, to want.
This little cabin in the woods is where I regained my strength after my husband died and my life took a different path than the one I thought it would follow. I have a wonderful new life now but the cabin is where I still recharge my energies and plan my projects for the year. We cook lots of wonderful food in the cabin and on the grill and focus our efforts on a lot of New England favorites with a little bit of Italian thrown in.
The cottage is mostly red (very, very dark red!) but there are pinks in the quilts and the dishes!
Peonies from Jack’s garden……
Some old quilts……
A new quilt made with old flour sacks…..
And some Kaffe on the loft railings……
This cabin is conducive to creative thoughts. I think and ponder and plan.
I study……some of it sinks in!
Socks are my new project….
A little crocheting….
I look at the lake and into the woods…
I can sit on the glider and look out….
A bit of basil and some parsley…..
Happy Pink Saturday! Where do you create?

A wonderful place to recharge the batteries. The views from the cabin are lovely and the quilts just finish off the inside. Have a wonderful weekend.
Amazing, isn't it, how getting away to a place like that can help one think, dream, plan, create, e t c ... have a good weekend!
What a special place, I'm sure you enjoy your time there! Have a great weekend!
Carol, what a wonderful place to recharge! Very inspiring! I can almost visualize myself there now! I love the quilts, and was that pickled beets in those jars?

What an amazing atmosphere to create in, with the views and the lovely setting surely you must be inspired all the time. Your quilts are beautiful. What better environment to sew quilts than to be surrounded by such a country setting.

Hi Carol,
Thank you for participating in the 'Where Bloggers Create' party because it has meant that I've found your wonderful blog.
There was so much that resonated with me about your space, the name for a start [we've been looking for a house name and although I'll have to consult with my man I think we've found it!], all of the warmth contained within the cottage that speaks so much about who you are and the images of the cottage and the lake.
I think the last photo sums it up best and I'll be making my own soon[ish].
Felicity
PS This is only my second week of blogging and the riches it has yielded are truly serendipitous!
PPS Apologies for the extra long comment, I guess you can tell I'm a bit excited.
Enjoy your weekend

What a wonderfully beautiful place to spend summers! I bet it's not nearly so hot there. Love your quilts! Would love to see more of that feed sack one.

What a wonderful creative space!
Hi Carol,
First of all, since I'm new here, I must say how sorry I am that you lost your husband! I don't know what age you are,but I was widowed suddendly at 36.
Talk about regrouping! I went back to college 4 months later just to do something different and get my mind off things! I didn't create much in those days,,,just lost myself in studying. That and I think journaling kept me sane!
What a gorgeous place to rest your weary heart my dear! Enjoyed the pictures so!Peonies are my Favorite, not doing well in Washington this year, too much RAIN!
Stop by my little blog and say hi when you have time!
Hugs and Well Wishes,
Shell
Having a view like that would be SO wonderful! I could spend hours there. Thank you for inviting us to visit.
Love where you spend your summers Carol. Maine is the perfect place to create! We just discussed going back to Camden this summer, possibly the last week in August. Just can't stay away!
What a beautiful spot to enjoy life and create in this beautiful setting!
What an awesome place to spend your summers! No wonder you keep going back! Thanks for shring it with us!

What a wonderful healing place the little red cabin must have been and is for you. A wonderful place to dream up projects, to rest, and to reflect. Thank you for sharing your creative haven.
That looks like such a peaceful place. I love the name, and I'm glad you found such a peaceful beautiful place to bring you comfort and happiness. Thanks for sharing.
What a lovely, peaceful place to recharge.
A cabin in the woods sounds lovely (and my dream way to live). I can see why you find such comfort there.
Totally jealous you have some Kaffe Fassett quilts! I love his abundant color and skillful use of pattern.
Looks like you and I share and interest in digital photography--I'm off to check out your art gallery next! :D
