Roses on the Bureau

I love roses. I can’t grow them in Florida and I don’t have the garden space in Maine. I buy them and I photograph them and just look at them. Fresh Market has delightful varieties and they last at least a week. The Gone with the Wind lamp belonged to my grandmother and I loved the lamp from the time I was a child. I am so happy to have it now. It casts a lovely glow in the room. The photograph is my parents’ wedding picture. The bisque figurine belonged to my grandmother as well.

Hi Carol, great photographs and love the family pictures and lamp. I find that roses don't last very long with the central heating in the Winter but they do look beautiful when new and fresh.

Have a great weekend, Jackie in Surrey, UK.

Carol...as always, such stuning color and composition in photography! Thanks for following and commenting on SuKnitWitty and our Sweater Challenge. We would love for you to join us. I'm thinking of putting up a Linky with each post...which will usually be on Thursday. You could knit along with us each Wednesday and post your progress on the Linky. It doesn't have to be a sweater...just whatever you'd like. Gretchen is actually knitting a TeaCozy which I'll feature next week. It's a FairIsle pattern and so neat...I guess it could be a Teapot Sweater...LOL! I'll start the Linky next week....Sue

Hello there from a fellow Floridian! I cannot grow roses here either because it is too hot but I usually always have some in my home. I purchase them at the grocery or florist. I *adore* your Gone with the Wind lamp (my favorite movie). I love your blog. Whereabouts are you in FL???

Brenda Pruitt said...

These are so beautiful! I was at the grocery today, and I searched for some pretty cut blooms. But came home empty-handed.

Carol....thank you for your sweet visit. Your roses are amazing. I grew up in Southern CA and we had roses everywhere, I guess I am surprised that you can't grow them in FL. We now live on the cold and windy plains of Nebraska and although roses grow here, they are a lot of work and I haven't taken the plunge. I enjoyed looking at your so much, I may have to add that to my spring *to-do* list :)

Blessings!
Gail
