am joinng Chari at Happy to Design for Sunday Favorites. This event gives us a chance to post a favorite from the past. Be sure to stop by seem some favorites.

At St. Armand’s Circle in Sarasota is a restaurant called Columbia. There are a few more scattered throughout the state. On a sunny but not too warm day it is fun to sit outside with a pitcher of Sangria and have their 1905 salad and people watch. The salad is quite garlicky so it is best if everyone you are eating with has the salad too.
The restaurant started in 1905, so the salad most likely gets its name from this date.

2 ripe tomatoes, cut in eights

½ cup ham (or turkey or cooked shrimp) cut in julienne strips
1/4 cup green Spanish olives, pitted
2 teaspoons grated Romano cheese

Mix garlic, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce in a smaller bowl. Beat until smooth and slowly add olive oil to form an emulsion. Add vinegar and lemon juice.
Toss together all salad ingredients in a bowl, reserving the Romano cheese.

The meal looks wonderful, Carol. I love the St. Armand's Circle area. My niece lives close to there and my other niece's family has a shop there....Christine

I think I remember this from before ... and it still looks delicious. Funny its called 1905. I guess we don't use iceberg lettuce quite so much anymore. but I think it's having a bit of a revival.

Mmm...your 1905 salad looks yummy! I just love eating salads like this and we often make a whole meal of just salad! Thank you for sharing the recipe with us! The salad dressing really sounds scrumptious...I'll have to give it a try!

So happy to have you join in with Sunday Favorites this week, Carol! This is a great post to revisit!
