Dr. Seuss at the lake and a GIVEAWAY

"How did it get so late so soon?" Dr. Seuss
The above quote sums up my feelings of late. Another birthday, another season at the camp and memories of my former life are all contributing to this sense of time going by.

This quilt is for my grandson. I made one for my granddaughter earlier in the spring. Hopefully they will be here next weekend and I can give the quilts to them then.
I fell in love with the fabric. I used to read these classic books to my children.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." Dr. Seuss
Is this not the truth?

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..." Dr. Seuss

Theodor Seuss Geisel was the author of many books for children. His quotes are wonderful. You can read about him here.

My GIVEAWAY is coming up soon. There will be 3 drawings - one for each 100 blogs! 1 entry for each comment and 2 entries if you are a follower!

Those are both wonderul and amazing quilts. Your grands are going to love them!

(I was not allowed to read Dr. Seuss books as a child because my mother considered them insipid. What a surprise when I started reading them to my children and found them perfectly delightful. My son has committed "The Cat in the Hat" to memory and can do command performances at the drop of the proverbial hat. This has put us all in stitches on many occasions.)

I love this post--and the quilt. When my boys were little, we lived in La Jolla and Dr. Seuss was our neighbor. We could purchase his books at the local village bookstore and his wife would take them to him to sign. We lived near him for three years but I never saw him!!

Thanks for the memories.

Best,
Bonnie

What fun quilts, Carol! I love the bright colors. I know that your grandchildren are going to cherish the quilts that you make them. We are HUGE Dr. Seuss fans in our household. I just found out a couple of weeks ago with a visit to the Dartmouth Bookstore that he has ties to this area of NH. There is a book about him there that looks so interesting. I can't wait to read it. Hope you are managing to stay cool in this heat. We were in Maine last weekend doing some sight seeing. It was just beautiful! Take care and enjoy your summer!

Wow, the quilt is gorgeous. Your grandson is going to love it. I recognize some of the quotes of Dr. Seuss. I enjoyed my visit today and I would love to be sitting on that chair by the lake.

This is so cute. I work in a school library so have thought about making something Seuss-y for school. I did make some wall art and pillows using the Eric Carle fabric.
